Florida cellphone shop robbers arrested

It was confirmed that the vehicle was seen driving along Ontdekkers Road in Horizon View.

On Wednesday, November 9 a collaboration between the West Rand Police and Fidelity saw the successful arrest of suspects who had robbed a Florida business.

Reports indicate that the Fidelity team received information of a bronze Honda Jazz involved in a business robbery at a cellphone shop in Florida.

Fidelity Specialised Intervention Unit members attended the scene and obtained a registration for the vehicle involved and sent to their control room for further investigations.

It was confirmed that the vehicle was seen driving along Ontdekkers Road in Horizon View.

West Rand K9 police were informed and started searching for the vehicle as they received updates from the control room.

The vehicle drove all the way through Weltevreden Park to Edenburg, Sandton where it was last seen.

West Rand K9 police members searched the area and intercepted the vehicle with two occupants.

Upon further investigation, a 9mm blank pistol gun with two live rounds, six cellphones, one tablet, one laptop, two knives and a knuckle buster were found in the vehicle.

Colonel Amos Tsotetsi from the Florida Police Station confirmed that two suspects were detained at the station and a case of armed robbery was opened.
