Would-be burglar caught by quick-thinking officer

All his getaway efforts did not come up to his expectations.

The quick response of a Beagle Watch officer resulted in the arrest of a man involved in an attempted break-in at a residence early on October 28.

According to Beagle Watch’s managing director André Aiton, a resident, who was not at home at the time, received a report from his neighbour about weird noises coming from his property. Concerned, the resident immediately called Beagle Watch, and a response officer was dispatched.

When the officer arrived, he noticed that two strands of the electric fence around the property had been cut. Moving closer, he spotted a man attempting to enter the house through the sliding door. As he approached, the man fled by scaling a wall to an adjacent property,” Aiton expressed.

The officer promptly called for backup and gave chase, pursuing the man through the surrounding area. After a co-ordinated search, the man was located hiding on another property.

“At this property, he had forced open the sliding door and ransacked the house. He claimed that there were two more suspects, who had fled the scene,” he concluded.
