Roodepoort police reveal strong successes achieved during January.

Police in Roodepoort are making headway in their fight against drugs, alcohol abuse and illegal firearms which is evident by the impressive arrests made during January.

According to Colonel Clive de Freitas, police made 40 drug-related arrests in January.

The arrests were made for various drugs including crystal meth, nyaope, mandrax, and Cat.

De Freitas adds that 38 people were arrested for being under the influence of alcohol, either on drunk driving charges or for public drunkenness.

“Roodepoort police will maintain its strict zero-tolerance stance against drug and alcohol abuse, and illicit drug and alcohol dealing,” De Freitas said.

Police have also recovered six illegal firearms.

“I commend the various police officers for their hard work and commitment to ridding our communities of crime,” he concluded.
