Power restored after JG Strydom blast

Residents affected by the explosion at the JG Strydom Switching Station in Weltevreden Park can now breathe a sigh of relief as power has been fully restored.

According to Ward 126 councillor David Brand, the restoration was completed on Sunday, November 24, following nearly a week of extensive repairs.

The explosion, which occurred last week on Tuesday, November 19, caused significant disruptions, with power initially restored to 46% of the affected areas by that afternoon. City Power maintenance teams worked tirelessly to repair damaged cables and stabilise the station, ensuring that electricity was gradually restored over the following days.
