#WestRandWaterWatch: Update on water systems in Roodepoort’s Ward 85

There is no expected time of arrival for areas still affected, and some areas might be affected by the Whiteridge North planned maintenance.

Ward 85 Clr Zone Hughes has shared the latest information regarding water systems in the ward.

This comes after major maintenance was conducted by Rand Water from June 30 to July 2, which affected the Eikenhof System.

Hughes said water in Helderkruin and Horison has started returning, but it’s coming out with low pressure.

Update on water reservoirs:

• Witpoortjie system: Healthy to fair
• Helderkruin system: The reservoir is low, and the tower is critical. Therefore, less water is expected
• Constantia Tower: The Tower is critical and is also affected by the Whiteridge North Rand Water Maintenance taking place today (Thursday, July 3) until 20:00, after which recovery will take place
• Horison Tower: The Tower is critical, resulting in the cessation of pumping operations. Joburg Water has advised that their Electromechanical department is working to resolve the problem and will attempt to switch the pumps back. However, the success of this effort depends on the pressure supply from Rand Water
• Direct feeds: Most direct feeds are supplying fairly. However, lower Helderkruin direct feed might also be affected by the Whiteridge North planned maintenance from Rand Water

Hughes added that at this stage, there is no estimated time of arrival for when water will be back for areas still affected.
