Florida police host a medal parade and rank ceremony
"To those who are promoted, we welcome you to our structures of leadership and trust that you will continue raising our flag high."
The Station Commander of Florida Police Station, Colonel Amos Tsotsetsi has on Friday, November 18 awarded medals and congratulated those promoted to higher ranks during a Medal Parade and Rank Ceremony that was held at a Florida Lake venue.


Members received long service medals, which were categorised in accordance with the long service of unbroken record members had given to the state.
The attendees during this event included, Lieutenant Colonel Mabuso, Colonel M D Ndlovu, Reverend Captain Tsintsing, Florida CPF Chairperson Farhaad Sardiwalla, Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and members of the Florida police station.


In his welcoming remarks, Tsotetsi acknowledged the presence of his colleagues and other representatives and went further to congratulate the medal recipients.
He echoed that it is not all about how long you have been in the office, but what you done when you were there.
“I want to welcome you to the world of leadership; you were chosen with a purpose and I know you will do your community proud.
“To those who are promoted, we welcome you to our structures of leadership and trust that you will continue raising our flag high.
“As we speak, Florida Station is ranked at position three on the efficiency index and that says a lot about us.
“Guidelines are there to be utilised, so please make use of them as you venture into your new ranks and different challenges,” said Tsotetsi.
Florida Police Human Resources Management (HRM) Head, Captain Chulayo read the code of conduct of the South African Police Service eloquently to the satisfactory of the attendees.
The 10 years and 30 years medals were awarded to the recipients by Colonel Tsotsetsi, Lieutenant Colonel Mabuso and Colonel Ndlovu who has been promoted to Jeppe Police Station Branch Commander.
During Colonel Ndlovu’s address, he appreciated the work done by the police in organising the medal parade.
He further warned criminals that their space of operation is reduced to zero and pledged that, there will be joint forces to ensure that the citizens are safe.
Lieutenant Colonel Mabuso concluded by thanking the police officers who worked tirelessly to ensure the successes of 2022 and encouraged members to maintain such good spirit throughout the festive season.
