Honeydew Residents Association host thank you lunch for those committed to the cause
New life breathed into HRA with strong momentum being taken into 2023.
A mark of success is showing appreciation for sacrifices made.

Reinvigorated by a change of management, the second half of 2022 brought a drastic shift in momentum for the Honeydew Residents Association (HRA). To say thank you to those who contributed to their increased efforts, Chairperson Izak van Rooyen and Vice-chair Shirley Bosman, HRA treated a handful of role players to an afternoon of good food and good company at a restaurant on the corner of Braam Road and Blueberry Street.

HRA’a fresh impetus was spurred on by a desire to create a stronger network of residents working for a common cause. Together with members of the Honeydew Community Policing Forum and dedicated private security company, EC Security, the group have done their part in trying to curb criminality in the area through regular patrols and proactive scouting missions. The area features many small holdings who are plagued by cable theft and property crimes and HRA have become a welcome buffer for the vulnerable.

As they continue to grow, so does the scope of their work. Between Van Rooyen, Bosman and their colleagues, they have tackled burst water pipes, environmental issues and have even branched into eco-education. Membership is growing and with municipal and law enforcement issues likely to continue, HRA are set up for an important 2023. Community collaboration is vital and every additional body adds the necessary weight to push back against the negative elements of society.
