Community supports blood donation drive
The day brought together residents who wanted to make a meaningful contribution and support those in need.
Residents filled the grounds at the Irish Rock Women’s Club for the August South African National Blood Service donation drive on August 15.
Donors arrived at the venue throughout the day to support the community initiative. The pleasant weather added to the day’s success as residents came together to donate blood.

Adding to the highlight of the day was the presence of the Cupcakes of Hope for Children with Cancer foundation, selling cupcakes and doughnuts at the venue, where people could buy cupcakes in exchange for donations towards the organisation.

The blood drive formed part of the club’s 2026 programmes, which include six blood donation drives during the year, with the previous drives being held in February, April and June. The remaining blood drives are scheduled for October 17 and December 12.

As the day drew to a close, the donors left the venue with a sense of community pride, knowing they had played a part in helping save people’s lives.
