Crawfordians share their Christmas cheer in Afrikaans

The Afrikaans subject learners all joined in and decorated beautiful gift bags.

Every year the Crawford College’s Afrikaans Department and the Grade 10 Afrikaans subject learners reach out to the community to spread some joy for the festive season. This year was no exception.

The Afrikaans subject learners all joined in and decorated beautiful gift bags. They also added Afrikaans words of joy and well wishes to the bags. These bags were then filled with wonderful treats generously donated by their parents.

Once the bags were decorated and filled, the Afrikaans teachers (Deu-Landi Pretorius, Anita Eksteen and Elaine Cooper) and very keen volunteers jumped in the school bus, ready to go! They travelled to the Zonneveld Retirement Village in Witpoortjie, to cheer up the elderly in the frail care unit.

Crawfordians Michael Botha, Aedan Yates, Unathi Blaai, Elihle Ngcobo and Baatseba Matlala not only handed out the gift bags but also brought love and good cheer to the frailest of the senior community on Wednesday, November 23.

The warm welcome by the Management and Care Givers at the facility was a humbling experience for the team. Their love and care for our senior citizens were evident in word and deed. Our students and teachers told us that they left with a sense of humility, gratitude and fulfilment that will linger in their hearts and minds always. ?

Thank you to the wonderful Afrikaans subject students and teachers, as well as the parents who generously donated gifts. We really appreciate all of you!

Well done #AfrikaansTeam! Keep up the good deeds! ?
