Suspects caught stealing cables in Wilro Park

On Monday, January 23 while on patrol, Dowry Reaction Officers were notified of possible cable theft in progress on CR Swart Drive, Wilro Park involving two suspects.

On arrival the two suspects were found at the scene with one of them hiding inside a mini electrical substation.

After an investigation it was discovered that the suspects had already stripped the utility outlet of various components.

The suspects were detained on scene and handed over to the Roodepoort Police.

On the same day, City Power released a vandalised mini substation update for the Roodepoort area.

According to City Power they are working hard to ensure the vandalised mini substations are replaced and electricity is restored to the affected customers.

The power utility revealed that two of the eight mini substations vandalised this month have been replaced and restored, while the third that services businesses has been connected to a generator.

Mini substations for the remaining five have been procured and City Power awaits delivery.

• Kasteel Street MSS vandalised on January 14 has been replaced and restored.

• Riyani Street MSS vandalised on January 11 has been replaced and restored.

• 2nd Street Roodepoort North MSS vandalised on December 5 has been connected to a generator.

• Wilro Rock / Elkie MSS in Wilro Park vandalised on January 15 is awaiting a mini substation.

• Eagle Street, Horison MSS vandalised on January 16 is awaiting a mini substation.

• Georgina Street, Horison MSS vandalised on January 17 is awaiting a mini substation.

• Clement MSS, Florida vandalised on January 18 is awaiting a mini substation.

• Lufhereng MSS vandalised on January 11 is awaiting a mini substation.

• Cam Street MSS, Robertville tested unsatisfactory and needs to be replaced.
