Madison joins Tosca Opera’s Children’s Choir

This choir will be part of the Johannesburg leg of the renowned opera.

Talented Crawfordian, Madison Bakewell, a Grade 6 learner has been selected to be part of the Tosca Opera’s Children’s Choir.

This choir will be part of the Johannesburg leg of the renowned opera, Tosca, composed by Puccini, which is being staged by Cape Town Opera at the Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg. This will take place from July 13 to 30.

Madison and her fellow choir members will practice and perfect their performance, before taking the stage to showcase their skills as part of the esteemed opera production.

“I am very excited to start this. What I am looking forward to most is gaining more knowledge because there are lots you can learn being a part of this, like conducting style and the way the music plays out. I want to become a singer and songwriter one day. I really like soft rock, more of the older style of music. My favourite musician and idol is Pink. Last year she even paid money so men swimmers could wear a certain type of costume rather than just a speedo. That’s so inspirational – she’s not just a singer, she cares about other people as well,” exclaimed Madison.
