Alleged father of missing boy found in Westgate shopping centre comes forward
The man said that he found out through social media about the abandonment of 'Adam' and that is when he decided to get in contact with police.
A man has come forward claiming to be the father of the young boy who was found wandering in Westgate Shopping Centre on July 4.
In several updates given by the police between July 18 and August 2, the man has come forward claiming that he and the mother had been separated when the child was abandoned and that they had found out that the mother had passed on. However, these leads are still under investigation according to Lieutenant Colonel De Freitas, who further cited that the case is with the Child Protection Unit.

The man, who is a security guard, learned from social media that his alleged child was missing and that was when he contacted the police.
As per children’s laws, the man needs to undergo verification of paternity before ‘Adam’ can be placed in his care and the place of safety where the boy is being cared for obtained a court order for temporary guardianship to attend to the boy’s immediate needs.
