WATCH: Fire guts through Delarey flats

A fire broke out in a block of flats in Delarey this afternoon, March 20.

Social media and community groups were flooded with images and video footage showing flames and smoke pouring out of the top floor of a block of flats above the Ons Winkel shop on Ontdekkers Road.

There is as yet no indication what the cause of the fire was.

Private security, emergency management services (EMS) and the fire brigade responded to the scene. The fire brigade managed to bring the blaze under control while EMS personnel tended to the wounded.

According to the limited information currently at the Roodepoort Record’s disposal, no-one seems to have been seriously injured.
