CPF awards outstanding police work

The Honeydew CPF has awarded a local police unit for the good work done within the community.

The coveted Goodwill Shield is a monthly award given by the Honeydew Community Police Forum (CPF) to deserving members of the Honeydew police in recognition of outstanding service to the community during the past month.

The Goodwill Shield award for March was awarded this past week to a whole team of police officers.

According to Honeydew CPF public relations officer Michael Steyn, the Honeydew Visible Policing Reaction Team One has consistently upheld the good reputation of the Honeydew police, raking in success after success.

One of their recent successes saw them removing a dangerous criminal and an illegal firearm from the streets of Zandspruit.

“During patrols in the vicinity of Zandspruit informal settlement, the officers pulled over a suspicious vehicle,” Steyn says.

“The suspect pulled his vehicle over but exited the car and fled from the police officers on foot. Police officers gave chase and managed to apprehend the suspect. Upon searching a bag found in his possession, they found a loaded revolver.”

The suspect was arrested and charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Steyn adds that since the arrest of this particular suspect, there has been a marked decline in incidents of robbery within Zandspruit.

“We believe in giving credit where it is due, and we want to congratulate every member of this highly effective team for their outstanding dedication and service to the community.”

In addition to the Goodwill Shield, the Honeydew CPF gifted each of the officers with gift vouchers which they can use at local businesses.

Should you as a business or individual want to get involved in sponsoring some of these vouchers, get in touch with the CPF via email at pro@honeydewcpf.org.za or WhatsApp them on 072 895 1289.
