Wilro Park Lions host high tea

In support of cancer survivors and warriors, Wilro Park Lions hosted a high tea with a Paris theme.

The Wilro Park Lions hosted a French-inspired high tea event on Saturday, October 12 in support of breast cancer awareness month. The event is held to help raise necessary funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

This annual Cuppa for Cansa event, held since 2011, also honoured the club’s past president, Marlene Lepley, who lost her battle with cancer.

On this special day, 80 women and a few gentlemen gathered amid beautifully decorated surroundings, courtesy of diligent Lions Club members. Esteemed guests included Ester Pretorius from Cansa West Rand, Jackie Ludick from Cancervive, and Lions District Governor Perry Chetty with his wife Kantha.

Jackie delivered an inspiring talk and shared cancer experiences that deeply resonated with her. Her presence underscored the significance of those affected by cancer.

“It was a beautiful and special event, and we remember those we have sadly lost, but we also celebrate our survivors. Our theme was High Tea in Paris, the city of love because we wanted to share messages of love, friendship, and hope. We also wanted to inspire and support those affected by cancer,” said Wilro Park Lions public relations officer Sandy van Heerden.
