Stepping up against cancer

Kwena, Virgin Active and Cansa empower communities one step at a time.

Kwena Square’s recent collaboration with the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) and Virgin Active Little Falls to host a community event, reinforced their commitment to supporting meaningful causes.

The cancer awareness event, which took place on October 26, reiterated Cansa’s vital work in research, education and patient care.

Virgin Active led a family-friendly free workout session, bringing together fitness-enthusiastic participants supporting a significant cause. To add a fun element to the day, RocoMamas sponsored vouchers, rewarding participants with treats after their workout.

Throughout the day, families passing by also showed their support by participating in Cansa’s Shavathon.

Participants could spray their hair in bold colours, symbolising solidarity with cancer survivors and those currently battling the disease.

The Shavathon welcomed donations, with all proceeds directed to Cansa’s programmes that support cancer patients and their caregivers.

Organiser Holly Nemathithi expressed her gratitude toward the community’s involvement, and said, “We were thrilled to see our community come together for a cause that touches so many lives. Kwena Square looks forward to continuing its support for meaningful causes, bringing the community together to make a difference.”
