Menstrual health matters

Crawford learner joins forces with Mosetsana Pads to empower young girls on menstrual health.

The Ke Mosetsana Pad Campaign, in collaboration with the LesegoM Foundation, is tackling period poverty and promoting menstrual health awareness among disadvantaged young girls.

Led by Crawford International Ruimsig learner and founder of LesegoM Foundation, Gabrielle Lesego Mashawana, this collaborative effort with the Mosetsana Pads aims to provide accessible and affordable menstrual products, alongside vital education.

LesegoM Foundation has recently made a name for itself fighting period poverty locally and educating young girls on the importance of menstrual health. The campaign launched Aurora Girls High School in Soweto, where Gabriella facilitated a thought-provoking discussion on menstruation, health and hygiene. Joining her were Neo Cholo, founder of Mosetsana Pads, Nontsikelelo Nkosi, brand ambassador of Mosetsana Pads and Miss UJ APK’s first princess Kudzai Matonga.

“Many young girls, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds, are not educated about the importance of menstrual health. The lack of affordable and quality menstrual products remains a big issue in these communities, and it is our responsibility as women to take charge and let them know we are here for them.

“Promoting menstrual health will not only provide education and awareness; it will improve overall health and well-being, and girls can feel confident in themselves,” Gabriella explained.
