Residents speak out at general meeting
Honeydew CPF alongside station management hosted a general meeting to address community issues.
The Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) invited residents to attend a general meeting with the station management of the Honeydew Police Station at the IIE MSA campus on November 14.
The annual meeting aims to provide an opportunity for residents to engage with their local policing precinct, local security companies, and CPF. The meeting was well attended by Honeydew CPF members, sector managers, resident associations, and local security companies, giving residents a chance to address community issues.

The meeting commenced with a warm welcome from the Honeydew CPF chairperson Jon Rosenburg, who introduced the speakers who addressed residents on crime statistics for October. Honeydew Police Station’s Brigadier Anesh Maharaj addressed the meeting by elaborating on the importance of patrollers and police officers working with local security companies and the CPF.
“I understand that residents have their own opinions about the police, but many are not aware of the work that occurs behind closed doors. We work very hard by collaborating with our local CPF members, patrollers, and security companies.
“A great example is the swift response from law enforcement in the recent Clearwater Mall robbery. These collaborative efforts assist with ensuring we can reduce crime in the area,” Maharaj explains.
A summary was then read out on the increase and decrease of various crimes in the area. Additionally, the biggest hotspot for motor vehicle hijackings mentioned was Beyers Naude Drive, and Zandspruit was named as one of the most affected areas with contact crimes.

Sector managers for sectors one to five were allowed to introduce themselves and explain which areas they covered. A panel of questions was discussed by residents who raised their concerns on safety issues, vagrants in various greenbelts, noise complaints, and many more community-based issues.
The general meeting was adjourned with Rosenburg thanking everyone who attended and granting them the opportunity to share contact details in certain policing departments.
