FBW celebrates a successful year

Florida Block Watch held a successful year-end function.

Florida Block Watch (FBW) held its final community meeting of 2024 in a packed clubhouse at Hoërskool Florida on November 19.

The meeting was attended by the who’s who of Florida and its surrounds including former station commander of the Florida Police Station, Brigadier Amos Tsotetsi, his successor, acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Ivy Mabuso, chairpersons and representatives from a variety of residents associations, local churches, the Department of Community Safety, security companies and residents.

FBW chairperson John Kirsten opened proceedings as usual with a minute of silent prayer before thanking the nearly hundred-strong crowd (many of them by name) for their efforts this year in working together to make Florida a better place for all.

Kirsten expressed thanks to the many churches, schools, businesses, and especially residents for their contributions to the work of the FBW, adding that they hope to make effect even more positive change within Florida neighbourhoods going forward.

With formal proceedings concluded, attendees settled down to enjoy some good company and delicious food in the form of boerie rolls and salads, provided by the FBW.
