Beloved founder of Mofuthu Wa Lererto, dies

"The organisation will remember her as a very hard-working person, humble, selfless."

The Mofuthu Wa Lerato, a non-profit organisation, is mourning the loss of Queen Seepe, the founder of the organisation, who sadly passed on November 20, after she was diagnosed with cancer.

According to her child Katlego Mokone, Queen was very passionate about the community and the young minds growing in it hence she started the organisation.

“The organisation will remember her as a very hard-working person, humble, selfless, determined and always optimistic in every project or activity. She was very passionate about empowering young people and fighting poverty within the greater community of Florida,” said Katlego.

Mofuthu Wa Lerato, which means ‘warmth of love’, was founded by Queen in 2019 to provide a safe and supportive environment for learners to grow and thrive. The organisation offered homework assistance, life skills education, and community outreach programmes to combat poverty.

Despite facing numerous challenges including a lack of facilities for their after-school programme, Queen continued to run it at the back of her yard and she would selflessly cook for her children after sections.

The Roodepoort community extends its deepest condolences to Queen’s family, friends, and the Mofuthu Wa Lerato team. Her selfless spirit and tireless efforts to make a difference will never be forgotten.

Queen was laid to rest on Friday, November 30, at the Florida Methodist Church.
