New Commander for Florida detectives

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Seageng takes the reins for Florida detectives.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Seageng has taken the reins as the newly appointed commander of detectives at the Florida Police station, promising to maintain the standard that the station is known for.

With an impressive 33 years of service, Segeang brings a wealth of knowledge to this position. He joined the South African Police Service in 1991 as a student constable for six months, and in 1992 he joined the police college in Hammanskraal. He has since worked his way up the ranks from constable, sergeant, warrant officer, and captain to being a lieutenant colonel.

“I have worked in Katlehong, Jeppe and Sophia Town,” he says.

“My passion for law was ignited at a young age, growing up in the North West. I was drawn to the discipline and professionalism of the police officers” he recalls.

Throughout his career, Seageng has been encouraged by his commanders to strive for excellence. “The commanders I’ve worked with have always pushed me to do more, to achieve the detective mission,” he says.

As he settles into his new role, Seageng is urging the community to work with the police to report any suspicious activity. He notes that fraud cases are a significant concern in Florida, and is advising residents to be vigilant with their bank cards, internet banking, and other financial transactions.

“We rely on the community to be our eyes and ears,” Seageng emphasises. “By working together, we can build a safer, more secure environment for everyone.”
