Community unites for local clean-up
The clean-up event which will take place on Saturday, February 22, serves as an extension of their ongoing commitment to creating safer, cleaner and more sustainable neighbourhoods for residents.
In a heartening display of community spirit, FullFlame Life Church, Kwena Square management, Little Falls and Strubens Valley Residents Association, and Checkers are joining forces to tackle environmental issues and improve public spaces with a community clean-up event on February 22.
This collaboration underscores the commitment of local organisations to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, creating an opportunity for residents to actively contribute to the preservation of their community.

The event will take place along Hendrik Potgieter Road, an area that serves as a crucial access route for many in the region. Volunteers are encouraged to arrive at Kwena Square between 07:00 and 07:30, where they will sign in and receive a briefing on the clean-up operation. The actual clean-up will begin at 08:00 and run until 10:00. FullFlame Life Church, based in Ruimsig, is at the heart of this community-driven initiative.
According to the church’s community outreach co-ordinator, Thato Phiri, as a multiracial, spirit-led church, FullFlame Life Church’s mission extends beyond spiritual guidance into tangible social transformation.
“Through outreach programmes and volunteer work, the church has continually worked to uplift the local community and provide support for various causes.
“This clean-up event is yet another way the church demonstrates its dedication to environmental stewardship,” he expressed.
Community members are strongly encouraged to participate in the clean-up initiative as it will offer an excellent opportunity for residents to contribute directly to the well-being of the local environment and showcase the power of collective action.
As the event approaches, the organisers are hopeful that it will be a resounding success, inspiring others to take similar initiatives to heart and to engage in efforts to keep their communities clean and sustainable.
