Toyota backs Toolbox Hub with bakkie to boost community projects
With Toyota’s backing, Toolbox Hub is set to enhance its impact, ensuring cleaner, greener, and well-maintained spaces for the Ward 97 community
For the past two years, the Toolbox Community Empowerment Hub team is on a mission to restore greenbelts and public spaces across Ward 97, working closely with the Willowbrook, Ruimsig, Amorosa and Poortview Residents Association (WRAP RA).

Now, with the backing of a major sponsorship from Toyota, the initiative is set to expand its reach and impact even further.

The team has been sponsored with a bakkie by Toyota Clearwater, which according to the hub’s manager, Andrew Holdsworth, will help expand their reach and impact even further as transportation was one of their biggest challenges.
“Travelling was a major challenge, getting all the equipment and the guys to the site with only one vehicle made it virtually impossible. Some days, we had to do over three trips just to get to where we needed to work,” he explains.
Becoming a vendor of the CFAO Mobility Group through a Toyota dealership proved to be a pivotal moment for the Toolbox team and the impact of the sponsorship has been felt throughout the community, with residents seeing firsthand how Toolbox’s efforts are improving local public spaces.
“The bakkie has streamlined our projects in the area around Ward 97, allowing us to be more efficient,” Andrew notes.
Looking ahead, Toolbox aims to expand its reach by forming additional teams to support more residents’ associations. However, securing additional transport and equipment remains a key challenge.
“Our focus is now on growing in the area and eventually having more teams on the ground to service more RAs. Transport, bakkies, and equipment will remain our biggest challenge at the moment, as the workforce is plenty – which is part of our job creation and skills development,” Andrew exclaims.
