Padel for a purpose

Indoor Padel Revolution launched their fundraiser to donate used padel balls to SPCA.

Indoor Padel Revolution is excited to launch their unique fundraiser that combines the love for padel with a passion for animal welfare.

Initiated by organisers Jeff Lopez and Jozi Baxter, this amazing fundraiser called “PADWEL” aims to collect used padel balls and donate them to their nearest SPCA, where they will be used to provide exercise and mental stimulation.

Speaking to the Roodepoort Northsider, Jozi, the brains behind the initiative, explained that the idea stems from watching her mother, Aimée, an inspector at the Randburg SPCA, dedicate her life to the well-being of animals.

“We have so many individuals who come in groups to purchase the padel balls, and instead of tossing them out, I thought, Why not find a new purpose for them? The workers at SPCA have their hands full, and this would be a great opportunity for them to engage their furry friends in various playtime activities.

“This creative solution not only reduces waste of the many used padel balls but also provides a fun and engaging way to support a worthy cause,” Jozi said.

The donation box is located inside the padel facility, where any individual in or outside the area can drop by and make their donation. PADWEL will be operating for about four to six weeks until the donation box is full.

“We don’t have a specific goal for how many we can collect, but if we can get as many as possible, then we will be truly grateful to donate the many that we receive. We are looking at donating by the end of May,” Jeff adds.
