CPF Sector 3 hosts successful meeting

With new plans quietly coming into place, the CPF is ramping up its efforts behind the scenes.

Honeydew CPF Sector 3’s committee held a community meeting on May 14 which was highly supported by the residents as they came out in numbers to discuss with the stakeholders some of the issues that are plaguing the area.

According to chairperson Sipho Mabusela, April’s crime statistics reflect a noticeable decline in reported incidents, which is a positive indicator to them that community-based efforts are beginning to yield results.

However, he cautioned that more work is still needed, particularly in addressing issues such as vagrancy, illegal businesses, and criminal infrastructure. He stressed the importance of continued collaboration between the CPF, the JMPD, and police to effectively combat crime.

“We need to encourage daytime patrollers in the sector as our eyes and ears as part of crime prevention,” Mabusela added.

He also highlighted that their crime prevention strategies need to be reinforced.

“I am particularly appreciative of our partnership with the police and security companies and will reinforce our efforts to get JMPD on board.”

A WhatsApp group comprising the Sector 3 committee, residents association (RAs) chairpersons and deputies has been established to facilitate co-ordination between the CPF executive committee (exco), RAs and other people on the ground.

“Our objective is to foster a healthy relationship between the CPF and RAs.”

The next community meeting, which will include Honeydew’s entire management, CPF executives, and Sector 3 members, is scheduled for June 11 at the same church venue. This meeting, according to Mabusela, will provide the residents with an opportunity to engage with station management and exco on all related issues.
