Families bid farewell to Jean and Kaayla

The community of Florida joined the families of Kaayla and Jean for an emotional farewell to the two young people.

The families of Jean Denton and Kaayla Lambert held a joint funeral for the two young people who were tragically killed in a horrific car accident on July 10.

On July 17, the Unified Church of the Nazarene was packed with family, friends, and community members who came out to support them in bidding farewell to Jean and Kaayla.

The two had been dating for five years at the time of the accident. Jean was studying an LLB, while Kayla was working and studying toward a career in social work.

Jean’s siblings Abdulbaqir Collins and Carlize Denton pay tribute to their brother.

Jean’s best friend, Aobakwe Banda, also lost his life in the accident when their e-hailing car was struck by an alleged drunk driver.

“We are very grateful for the support of our friends and neighbours at this difficult time,” says Kaayla’s father, Jama Allow.

“Knowing the love that Kaayla and Jean had for each other, we know this is the way they would have wanted it.”

Both families also extended their sincerest condolences to the family of Aobakwe.
