Snow alert: Gauteng braces for possible flurries this week
The forecast says cold and wet – will snow finally arrive in Gauteng?
Residents of Gauteng can once again perhaps be lucky enough to see snow before this year’s winter comes to an end.
Numerous weather agencies have said there is indeed a chance for snow from today, August 6, until tomorrow, August 7.
With a high likelihood of rain tomorrow, residents are urged to keep an eye on the skies from later this evening, as there is a chance of snow and sleet.

In a forecast map posted by Snow News, it shows that Gauteng could be the recipient of about 1-5cm of snow, if we are lucky!
Vox Weather shared on their Facebook page a forecast map which indicates a mix of rain, graupel and hail for tomorrow.

“While freezing levels will drop, they’re not expected to be low enough for snow to settle on the ground in Gauteng, Free State, North West and surrounding regions. Any snowfall here would most likely melt before reaching the surface,” its post stated.
“In and around Gauteng, where instability values are expected to be high, the models are likely picking up hail or graupel mixed with rain on Thursday rather than actual snow.”
If it snows and you have any photos, please send them and your name, surname and area where you live to caxtonjoburgwest@gmail.com.
