Author Onkarabile Mokoto releases new self-help book on human connection

Local author receives book endorsement from bestselling international selling author Dr John Dermatini.

For award-winning author and public speaker Onkarabile Mokoto, writing has always been about more than putting words on paper – it is about sharing knowledge that can make a practical difference in people’s lives.

That philosophy is at the heart of his latest self-help book, People’s Person: How to Be Liked, Win and Influence People, which explores communication, relationships and the ways people can build stronger connections with those around them.

The book has already attracted international recognition, with best-selling author and renowned human behaviour specialist Dr John Demartini endorsing the publication.

It is the 11th book Mokoto has published, with seven of his previous titles recommended by the Gauteng Department of Education.

Mokoto’s journey into publishing began long before his first book appeared in 2017. He discovered his passion for writing and public speaking in 2008, eventually turning that interest into a growing body of work focused on inspiration, personal development and sharing knowledge.

Today, he continues to write and speak while working in the hospitality industry and travelling between South Africa and the United States.

Christian roots inspire practical guide

Speaking to the Roodepoort Record, Mokoto said his Christian background had been an important source of inspiration throughout his journey.

“My inspiration for writing usually comes from my Christian background and wanting to share inspirational knowledge and messages with people,” he said.

But inspiration, he added, also comes from identifying gaps and needs in society.

“I also look at the need, and I already have the desire to meet that demand,” he said.

That approach is reflected in ‘People’s Person’, which Mokoto said was written with practical application in mind. Rather than focusing solely on theory, the book aims to give readers communication tools that can be applied in different industries, workplaces and everyday situations.

The central message is rooted in human interaction: how to communicate more effectively, establish meaningful relationships and influence others in a positive way.

“I want people to read this and apply it in a specific field,” Mokoto said.

For Mokoto, the release of another book is not simply another milestone in his publishing career. It represents an ongoing commitment to using writing and public speaking to inspire people while giving them knowledge and practical tools they can use in their own lives.
