Sports day ignites team spirit

The highly anticipated sports day hosted at Skye College was a resounding success as families, teachers and learners had fun.

Skye College hosted its annual sports day on Saturday, July 20, bringing together learners, parents and teachers for a fun-filled day of athletic competition and teamwork.

Teams were divided into four houses – Aquila, Crux, Orion and Sirius, where they engaged in track and field events and special races between parents and teachers, which drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

According to Skye College executive head Claudia Pienaar, the excitement from all three parties portrayed the significance of the sports day as one of their all-time favourite events of the year.

Team Sirius emerged victorious, winning both the Spirit Cup and the title of the overall champion house. Crux claimed second place, followed by Orion in third and Aquila in fourth.

“We are incredibly proud of every person who made this day a huge success. From participants to supporters, everyone’s contribution made this day unforgettable.

“We look forward to another fantastic sports day next year,” Claudia said.
