Learners showcase their talents at school market day

The young entrepreneurs had a lot more in store to show.

The Grade Seven learners of Ruimsig Academy hosted their highly anticipated Market Day on November 1, which put a close to an exciting and creative week.

This event brought together the learners, as well as their teachers and even parents with a wide array of handmade products, gamely competitions and mouth-watering snacks made by the learners while showcasing lots of teamwork.

The learners prepared and showcased their homemade items at various stalls. Items such as flower pens, scrunchies, jewellery, fudge, stress balls and biscuits lined the tables. The learners’ diligent efforts and entrepreneurial capabilities were reflected in those well-crafted goods that did not stay long before being bought by eager buyers.

Apart from the creative items, the food was very appealing as there were so many different goodies on offer such as burgers, chips, brownies, meat platters, popcorn, and pieces of fruit on skewers. The water gun game proved to be highly favoured due to the hot weather and allowed every participant to cool off and have some fun.

The day was filled with many engaging activities where the participants jumped in to get the action. Learners took turns playing games such as darts, biscuit decorating, and a sponge race called “Fill the Bucket” where friends splashed each other trying to see who could splatter the other more.

For those interested in sports, the event offered a FIFA video game competition, football dribbling challenges, and sharp-shooting contests, all of which encouraged friendly competition and showcased skill.

The most rewarding part of the day for the learners was the realisation of their efforts turning into earnings, as they experienced firsthand the value of teamwork and hard work.

The day concluded with a colourful and energetic colour run, leaving participants laughing and splashed in vibrant hues.
