Learners share Christmas traditions when at home
Laerskool Horison learners take us through their traditions at their homes and what it means to them.
As Christmas Eve approaches, learners from Laerskool Horison eagerly share their cherished Christmas traditions, offering a glimpse into the warmth and joy that fills their homes during this special time of the year.
From decorating trees to feasting with loved ones, these young storytellers invite us to experience the magic of their holiday celebrations.
Adanjé Scholtz says her family comes for a visit, and they decorate the table while sharing gifts. She says it reminds them that Jesus is the biggest present they can have in their lives.

“Our family Christmas tradition is a braai, and my mom shares Jesus stories with us,” Hendré Venter says.

Dunay Nel says she comes from a big family, and they have always made it a mandate to spend this special day together. She says for the last 40 years her family would always get together at her grandmother’s house.
“The grandchildren would always take a story out of the Bible and try to act it out or make a song or dance out of it. This teaches us to be grateful,” Dunay says.

Juwan Pelzer shares, “Our family comes for a visit, and we decorate the table with lots of food. After eating, we all sit around the Christmas tree and we share gifts.”
