Grade 12: The final chapter
The Grade 11 learners from The King's School West Rand share what they look forward to as they transition to Grade 12.
Going to Grade 12 is a moment most learners look forward to, besides finishing school, they look forward to their last year at school and await the big step into adulthood.
Grade 11 learners from The King’s School West Rand shared with the Roodepoort Northsider what they look forward to in their matric year.
Jamie Strugnell tells the Northsider that she looks forward to the privileges that come with being in matric, as well as the new experiences of being a senior at school.
“Being in matric means many of the juniors will look up to you so it’s important to be a good example to the learners,” she adds.

Tshiamo Mooki says, “Being in matric comes with a lot of pressure so I always tell myself that although you may see a challenge, God sees victory.”

Mpho Khulu looks forward to playing netball as a senior in the first team because the competitiveness will be a huge advantage for her aiming to play Varsity Netball the following year.

Reneiloe Kundhlande says, “I’m looking forward to the matric dance because it’s the one time where we can dress up and enjoy the last few days of our matric years, as well as finally writing my last Afrikaans test paper.”

Jazmin Micheal is one of the very few learners who looks forward to the responsibilities that come with being a prefect in the 2025 academic year and assisting with the Grade Eight orientation to guide them into the new year.

Jordan Henning says, “I look forward to the matric privileges we will receive and finally finishing school.”

Stella Matthes looks forward to the matric dance as well as writing Afrikaans for the last time.
