Grade 12’s share their next chapter
Grade 12's from various schools in the Northside reflect on their matric year and what the future holds for them.
The class of 2024 have worked tirelessly throughout the year exceeding their limits. After the release of the Grade 12 results, learners who we now can refer to as young adults briefly shared their plans for the future after passing with flying colours.
Declan Swanepoel achieved a 94% average and was named as one of the top 1% of the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) Grade 12 exams are considered to be among the top achievers . Declan wishes to study architecture at the University of Pretoria.
Sisipho Swana says her plans for the future is to pursue her studies in Medicine at the University of Cape Town.
“I would like to specialise in Anaesthesiology or Radiology. Grade 12 was very stressful with the extra responsibilities I had, so I learned to juggle my schedule quite well and plan accordingly, which is a tool that will help me with my tertiary studies,” Sisipho said.

Lwazi Hleza: “I am happy and proud for achieving six distinctions and I plan to remain consistent with my academic record in tertiary. My plan is to study civil engineering at the University of Pretoria.”

Tinotenda Manyeruke expressed how challenging Grade 12 was for most learners but by the grace of God she managed to pass and be the top 1% of the IEB learners for History. She hopes to study a degree in Radiography at the University of Pretoria.

Tshiamo Tlhabadira: “Although Grade 12 is not exactly a walk in the park, I am truly grateful for the support I have received from family and friends. I hope to pursue my Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with either the University of Cape Town or University of the Witwatersrand.”
