Welties athletes shine with D12 medals

As they prepare for the Gauteng Champs, the community of Welties and their supporters remain behind them, excited to see what these young athletes will achieve next.

The D12 Championships held on February 26 at Hoƫrskool Florida, saw a remarkable display of talent from local athletes, with many earning well-deserved medals. Among them were several standout performances that highlighted the hard work and dedication of the athletes from Weltevreden Park Primary School.

Bonane Ngcobo earned a bronze medal in the U11 70m hurdles, while Victor Nworisa also took home a bronze in the U13 high jump. Nolwazi Lolwana followed suit, securing a bronze in the U13 long jump, and Richmond Nwafor added another bronze for the U12 100m event. These athletes demonstrated exceptional skill in their respective events, showcasing their competitive edge.

In addition to the bronze medalists, several athletes excelled with silver performances. Sasha Nnodu claimed silver in the U10 long jump, Michaela Mokoena earned silver in the U13 150m, and Kenzo Rana won silver in the U12 high jump. Their efforts were a testament to their commitment to training and pushing their limits in every race and jump.

However, the star of the day was Mason Smale, who clinched a gold medal in the U10 long jump, rounding off a memorable day of achievements for the Welties. These incredible performances have set the stage for the upcoming Gauteng Championships, where some of these athletes will continue to represent their schools with pride.

Sasha, Michaela, Kenzo and Mason will be looking to build on their success and make their mark at the provincial level.
