New prefects take on leadership roles

The light has been passed on for them to carry it next.

The King’s School West Rand welcomed its new high school prefects during an inauguration ceremony held on August 18.

At the event, the outgoing prefects used their candles and lit the newly elected prefects’ candles, signifying passing the torch to the new group of leaders and marking the beginning of a new era in student leadership.

These learners are trusted to play an important role in upholding the school’s values and guiding their peers. Head girl Danielle Naidoo and head boy Tristan Bastiaans are the leaders of the new team. Their leadership will be supported by deputy heads Tiyamike Dickinson, Tlotliso Lekhanya, Elijah Mtambo and Bokang Mokoena.

The highlight of the event was when the parents of the prefects were given the honour of placing blazers on their children, marking the beginning of their leadership journey. On stage, each prefect received recognition for their dedication to serving their fellow learners and setting an example.

The school expressed gratitude to the old prefects for their commitment and hard work during their leadership roles. The school believes that the team will work together to build a supportive and positive school environment, and they trust that they will eagerly lead with dedication, humility, integrity, and a Christ-centred heart of service.
