Learners enjoy science fun

With unexpected discoveries, the day was nothing but fascinating.

Learners from Dios Los Ninos visited the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg recently.

According to the school principal, Leoni Leppich, the excitement was palpable as the learners boarded a 65-seater bus to travel to the discovery centre. When the children finally arrived at the centre and started exploring the various exhibits, that is when the real fun began.

Children participated in hands-on science activities that ignited their curiosity and creativity. They saw roaring dinosaurs, fascinating fossils, and could even build houses using foam bricks and steel structures. Some learners even took part in a fun bicycle race that generated energy, while others explored robotics linked to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

One of the highlights of the day was a giant hamster wheel that learners could ride on to see if they could run as fast as a hamster. They also experimented with real-life fragrances like cinnamon and coffee, participated in a crab race, and took on a soccer challenge where the aim was to score points by kicking with just the right amount of force.

An exciting science show that kept everyone entertained while learning about scientific principles in action was held to mark the end of this visit.

“This was such a fun and educational day, showing once again that learning does not have to be boring, but can be very enjoyable while enriching,” Leonie said, expressing that the day was a memorable one for everyone who was involved.
