Children discover the fun journey of milk
From baby calves to milk bottles, the mini farmers discovered it all.
It was a day of excitement and discovery for the Grade One learners from Curro Wilgeheuwel as they set off on a memorable educational outing to a local dairy farm.
The visit on October 24 gave the young learners a chance to experience first-hand how milk makes its journey from farm to table.
The children were delighted to feed the baby calves and learn about the care and feeding of farm animals. They then toured the milk factory, where they watched in amazement as fresh milk was processed, pasteurised, and packaged for delivery.

Teachers shared that the learners asked curious questions throughout the visit, showing great interest in how the machines worked and how dairy products are made safely for everyday use.
Educational farm visits like this one provide valuable opportunities for learners to connect classroom lessons with real-life experiences. According to the Department of Basic Education, experiential learning activities help develop observation, inquiry, and problem-solving skills in young children.

The outing was not only informative but also filled with fun and laughter – a perfect blend of learning and adventure that the learners will remember for years to come.
