Young learners shine at spelling bee competition

Words were their weapons, and the little ones spelt their way to victory.

The Grade One learners at Curro Wilgeheuwel recently took part in their first spelling bee competition. The exciting event honoured learning, confidence, and fun in the classroom.

The competition showcased the learners’ spelling skills, and the atmosphere was filled with support and cheers as each participant boldly took the stage to spell out their words.

By assisting kids in increasing their vocabulary, enhancing their pronunciation, and strengthening their memory and focus, spelling bees are recognised to have a significant impact on early learning. They also educate learners to remain calm under pressure, which boosts their confidence when they perform in front of others.

Teachers were proud to see how confidently the learners performed, turning what could have been a nervous moment into a joyful experience. The event also encouraged teamwork, focus, and a positive attitude toward learning. The school continues to nurture a love for learning through activities that help learners grow both academically and personally.
