First day of school for Princess Primary Grade Ones

Many parents felt a strong tug at the heartstrings.

Princess Primary School kicked off the 2026 academic year this morning, January 14, with a warm welcome for hundreds of eager Grade One learners.

The school, buzzing with excitement, saw smiling faces and nervous giggles as the little ones, dressed in their crisp uniforms, met their new teachers and classmates.

The only tears in the morning came from the parents as they waved goodbye and gave kisses to their little ones for the start of their new journey. The first-time learners interacted with one another from the get-go, like old friends at a reunion.

Grade One teacher, Mrs Kloppers, who has been teaching for 14 years, shared that she thoroughly enjoys teaching the little ones because she gets to watch them grow and impart valuable life skills to them. She attributes her passion for teaching the lower grades to the opportunities for art, music, and play.

“When the children walk into the new grade, we introduce ourselves, set class rules, evaluate their grasp of basics, and begin learning first sounds,” she explained.
