Varshal Pillay describes this milestone as quite an anticipated achievement because he built a solid foundation in Grade 10.

“I’m fascinated because I’ve worked really hard from Grade 10 and everything is just an addition to the strategies that I acquired back then,” he said.

“This is a big personal sentiment because I lost my brother, who had a profound impact on me. This achievement stands to his name more than me,” he added.

Daveigh Makhubela is happy to have scored more marks than she targeted.

“Honestly, I’m still all over the place and overwhelmed by all the results I got. I’m happy with everything, and some would have been better, but I’m looking at the brighter side,” Daveigh added.

Sisekelo Dlalisa described his academic results as a shock, as he wouldn’t have anticipated his official results.

“My results are above my expectations because the night before I was worried and didn’t think I would have made it,” said Sisekelo.

Teacher Mazibuko encourages learners who didn’t make it to take it slow and never think it’s the end of the road.

She urges 2026 matric learners to start the academic year with a good head start so that they are not left behind.
