Welties netball stars shine at Roodekrans tournament

Weltvreden Park's netball players make their at a tournament hosted by Laerskool Roodekrans.

 Weltevreden Park Primary School’s (Welties) U10 and U11 netball players shone at the Butterfly Tournament hosted by Laerskool Roodekrans on Monday, May 25.


This follows their dominance in the Jomo league this season.

According to Welties head of netball Loago Duma, the teams earned their place in the D12 school’s tournament by winning all of their league matches, securing first place and the opportunity to compete against other top-performing schools from across the district.

The tournament showcased the skill, determination, and teamwork of the young players, who represented their school with pride throughout the day. Facing strong opposition, the girls delivered impressive performances and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship on and off the court.

“The U10 team was rewarded for their positive attitude and unity after being crowned winners of the Team Spirit Award, a recognition that highlighted their enthusiasm and support for one another during the tournament,” said Duma.

The Butterfly Tournament also marked the end of the school’s netball season, which saw all age groups perform exceptionally well. Players, coaches, and supporters reflected on a successful season filled with growth, commitment, and memorable achievements.

The school community commended the girls for their hard work and dedication, celebrating a season that brought pride and excitement to both players and supporters alike.
