Young Crawfordian represents SA in World Champs

Young karate student competes in world champs.

Zahra Klasen, a talented Grade Six Crawford Ruimsig learner, recently participated in the 11th World Union of Karate-Do Federations World Championships in Dundee, Scotland.

According to the school, the championships saw a significant turnout, with 1 800 competitors and over 4 000 events.

It was the first time the team from Shotokan ZA had competed on the global stage, and they made quite an impression by securing a gold and a bronze medal. Zahra’s performance was notable too, achieving eighth and 10th place in Kata and ninth place in Kumite.

As Zahra’s success is celebrated, her sights are now set on the 2025 World Championships in Denmark. With her determination and hard work, she aims to achieve even greater heights in the future.
