Meet Mrs SA semi-finalist ‘s sweetheart

HONEYDEW – Honeydew's Ilze Dewing was selected as a Mrs SA' semi-finalist.

The Mrs South Africa pageant recently presented their top 100 semi-finalists and Honeydew’s Ilze Dewing is flying the flag high for the community.

“I am so excited about this – I want to make a meaningful difference and I want to add value to people’s lives,”said Dewing.

She said her friend Cathy Heaton, who was a finalist last year, saw potential in her and convinced her to enter the competition.

Dewing said she was immediately drawn to the opportunity and also the public platform which it would provide for her to give back to the community.

She is a successful advocate, chartered accountant, and also entrepreneur at heart, who is currently the business development director and CFO of a local technology company.

Dewing believes that her strong local and international network could be leveraged as well as using technology to assist her in achieving sustainable results.

“As a mother of two, my main interest is in the future of the youngsters and to teach them how to solve problems and how to use technology to make it sustainable,” she said.

Dewing added, “I don’t want to change the country but I want to make a difference.”

Not only is she a go-getter– she is also passionate about helping those in need.

She is responsible for raising funds for the Sloane Foundation.

“The foundation is very close to my heart, my friend’s son is a year old and he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I am raising funds for him to go get treated overseas.”

Dewing will be part of the 100 semi-finalists who will go on to compete at the semi-final weekend held at Emperors Palace, and will be subjected to gruelling judging sessions by an esteemed panel of judges headed by principal judge, Cindy Nell-Roberts.

All proceeds of this event will go to the pageant’s official charity, the Cancer Association of South Africa.
