Covid-19 parkrun update 2
Parkruns are said to resume in Tokyo on 21 November and a further four events in Japan the Saturday after.
Seeing parkruns return in Namibia the past weekend was a wonderful sight and brought hope for parkrunners as Namibia was the fifth parkrun territory to welcome back events since the Covid-19 pandemic halted parkruns across the world.
According to Parkrun Global, they were looking forward to reopening in South Australia on Saturday, 21 November but sadly new infections and a subsequent two-week state-wide lockdown derailed the plans.
In more positive news, the plan still stands to work towards the reopening of parkruns in Queensland on 28 November.
Parkrun Global is particularly excited to see how normal things are in places where they have been able to return.
Events are operating well within the Covid-19 framework, the Virtual Volunteer timing and scanning app is proving to be a huge success, and participation is pretty much identical to pre-Covid-19 levels.
The growth of parkrun events in open countries continues, most notably in Japan where the Momoi Harappa Koen parkrun will resume.

In a statement released by Parkrun Global, they revealed that they understand the frustration and disappointment in communities where they are currently unable to return.
However there are visible signs of improvement and reasons to be positive, and every week feels like another positive step forward.
