Croc takes on black mamba: Who wins?
A black mamba is determined to get to the other side of a river but first, it must get past the crocodiles. Will it make it to the other side?
Giosuè Spinosa was on safari at Shingwedzi River in the Kruger National Park. While scanning the river bank for movement, something caught his eye – a black mamba, one of Africa’s deadliest snakes.
Spinosa, sharing his footage and story with LatestSightings.com, says the snake was moving along a patch of dry river sand, making its way to the water’s edge. As the snake was moving quickly, Spinosa thought it wanted to cross the river, which was full of crocodiles and hippos.
While the hippos did not notice the snake, the crocodiles, basking in the morning sun, saw it immediately.
The croc closest to the snake rushed off to try and catch it, but the snake was too fast and too agile for the slow crocodile. The croc snapped at it, but caught only air.
The snake entered the water while the crocs watched from the bank. It was safe for now.
When it got to the other side, it made a fatal mistake, choosing the wrong exit route from the river. It found it hard to get out of the water, in a clay and muddy area.
Seeing the snake struggle, one of the crocs got into the water and quickly swam across the river.
The snake was captured on the bank. The croc grabbed it with one swift bite and got down to eating it before the other crocs came in for the steal.
