King David schools celebrate 70 years

JOHANNESBURG – King David schools celebrate their 70th anniversary at the Johannesburg Zoo.

 

The teachers, pupils and parents from the King David schools celebrated their 70th anniversary through a special Wild Walk and Run at the Johannesburg Zoo on 25 February.

A spokesperson for the school, Gaby Cohen, said, “Thousands of King David students, parents, grandparents, teachers and staff, woke up really early to take to the picturesque paths of the zoo to participate in this year’s King David Wild Walk and Run.”

Director of the South Africa Board of Jewish Education, Rabbi Craig Kacev said, “The Wild Walk and Run was certainly a fantastic way to start the year of festivities that will be taking place across all King David schools this year.”

Children enjoy the monkey jump ride at the Johannesburg Zoo.

“A 70-year milestone provides the ideal opportunity to look back on the role and contribution our King David schools have made over the past seven decades and we look forward to continuing this legacy for our King David community.”

With well over 2 500 attendees and generously sponsored by Discovery Health, the day aimed to unite all the King David schools in a fun and healthy way, encouraging unity and cohesiveness across all ages and between all campuses.

Cohen added, “The Johannesburg Zoo proved to be an outstanding choice of venue as everyone enjoyed the magnificent zoo facilities and attractions. King David students from pre-school to matric loved seeing and hearing the animals as they walked or ran through the zoo along the 5km route.”

Kacev concluded, “The Wild Walk and Run was a fantastic opportunity for King David families across all campuses to enjoy time together outdoors and a great morning was had by all”.
