Player enjoys his favourite sport in isolation

GREENSIDE – Gavin Louis had made plans regarding his tennis journey but the Covid-19 has compelled him to rather practise his skills at home.

Pirates Tennis Club member Gavin Louis shared a video of himself playing at his home.

The tennis enthusiast said he had been playing for the past 20 years every Saturday and Sunday at the club in Greenside.

“I have been a member, chairman, and treasurer. This is how much tennis is in my blood. With this lockdown it has been difficult but just to be able to hold a racquet and ball is satisfying. Playing over the pool or against the wall I’m able to get my tennis fix,” Louis said.

He added that on 10 April he would have been on his way to Spain to play in a club tournament in Gran Canaria, however, the coronavirus had its own plan.

Louis decided that with all the practice and preparations for the tournament he had done, he may as well continue to play when he could as well as enjoy tennis even in isolation.

“I have played in a tennis tournament every single year and have won an event on every single trip. I’ve played league and club championships at Pirates. We won a few leagues and won the club champs singles, mixed doubles and men’s doubles on at least one occasion.”
