Domestic workers learn about food and safety

BIRDHAVEN - Domestic workers had the chance to improve their skills and knowledge at a meeting organised by the Birdhaven Ratepayers Association.

The talk, entitled Your food, your health, your money, was followed by a cookery demonstration and tasting, and a lucky draw.

Dawn Carter of Team Training Consultants spoke about the importance of food safety, and paid special attention to handling chicken and red meat.

The attendees were then given safety tips and a talk about the importance of knowing their neighbours, by Stallion Security’s Moses Mthetwa.

After a cookery demonstration, those present were able to taste the prepared dishes.

Meeting organiser Annetta Bilchik said she was very happy with the number of people who attended.

“Slightly more than 60 people attended, and I received good feedback. Stallion Security, Blue Living and Oceania Brands really came on board, and I appreciate their generosity,” she said.
