Torah celebrates heritage
To celebrate Heritage Day, Torah Academy Primary School introduced a programme to familiarise pupils with the diverse culture, tradition, history and languages in South Africa.
The programme included presentations by the Grade 2 pupils, in which they greeted the audience in most of the 11 official languages.
They spoke about the national monuments and historical buildings, game reserves, historical sites, coastlines and mountain ranges, the national anthem, national flag, the national bird, the blue crane, the galjoen (national fish), the protea (national flower), yellowwood (national tree), the springbok (national animal), and the national coat of arms.
Wire artist Allan Gwarada shared his skills with the pupils and presented each one of them with a token of his craft.
