Market fun in the sun

DUNKELD – Dunkeld and Rosebank residents turned out in large numbers to socialise and shop at a community market held in the grounds of St Martin’s-in-the-Veld Anglican Church.

The market offered a variety of stalls, including organic vegetables, cushions, tablecloth overlays, children’s clothing, pottery, beadwork and books.

Children were kept entertained with a jumping castle and other fairground attractions.

Visitors could help themselves to slices of cake and quiche, served with tea or coffee, for a modest donation. Lunch and softdrinks were also available.

Parish secretary Suzanne Mackay said, “Part of the success of the market was that stall holders were not limited to church members. Anyone with a charity or small business could hire a table and sell their wares. Word of mouth advertising and good weather also contributed to the excellent spirit and good support we received.”
